For me, this question fell into the same category as a couple of others that I've already remarked on: what else could it be?
Shows how much I know about this subject. A website called Wine Folly describes six methods for producing sparkling wine:
• | Traditional or Champagne method |
• | Tank method |
• | Transfer method |
• | Ancestral method |
• | Continuous method |
• | Carbonation |
I wonder how many other Quiz League contestants could have named any of the other five?
Having said that ... a description of the occupational hazards of the remuer is a rather strange way to introduce a question about the Champagne method.
Actually, the word is remueur. Remuer is a verb (pronounced rem–oo–ay, not rem–oo–air), meaning to move, wiggle or stir; a remueur (as the question almost describes) is someone who tilts (rather than turns) the Champagne bottles at a particular stage in the process, so that the sediment moves into the necks of the bottles.
